Back Story
Amie (pictured right) was working in catering but a diagnosis of a functional disorder meant she could no longer work safely in this environment, however she wanted to demonstrate her work ethic to her son and find employment which worked around having a family.
After feeling scared about keeping up with online learning, Amie was enrolled by Cidori onto a college partner delivered Teaching Assistant course and found it easy to access and got lots of support from fellow learners.
She describes her Barnet Southgate College tutor (Donna) as “amazing – she had so much patience and put things in ways that I understood.” Completing this online course gave Amie a sense of achievement and she now wants to progress with a higher level TA qualification at a future point.

“I have learned so many new skills through this course, but most importantly it gave me the confidence to believe in myself and recognise the value of the skills I already had. I never thought I would be able to achieve something like this because I didn’t have any qualifications, but within three months of completing the course I secured a Teaching Assistant role. I am now back in work, have a career I enjoy, and a better routine and future for both me and my son. It really is one of the best things I have ever done.”
