THE COURSE
Peter was unemployed and receiving Universal Credit when he was offered this course through his local JCP. He wanted to get into teaching and saw this as a good way to begin down that career pathway. Peter was fine with enrolling online – due to the pandemic, most of his prior learning was on this basis, which got him used to the idea. So he was enrolled onto the Cidori-Barnet Southgate College 4-week ‘Teaching Assistant’ course – delivered by a Barnet Southgate College tutor.
PROGRESSION
Peter enrolled with ease, stating that each step was explained well. During his course, Peter was signed up to the Cidori job board ‘My Job Portal’ – he registered with GSL Education and has just signed a contract with them for Teaching Assistant work.
JOURNEY SINCE LEARNING
Peter has secured a position with Cidori employer partner GSL Education – a leading education recruitment consultancy and agency.
QUALIFICATIONS
Like all our TA candidates, Peter has come away with a Level 2 NCFE Cache Award in Support Work in Schools & Colleges qualification and a suite of recognised Level 1 qualifications.
WORK & PERSONAL SKILLS
Peter has also gained a range of personal social & resilience skills along with work skills that will help him in his future career – we wish him every success!
“The course has helped me get in with a recruitment agency ‘GSL Education’. I have just signed a contract with them, which I doubt would have happened without my Level 2. I would recommend this course to others – the tutor was great and I was able to get assistance when needed. The course was good at informing me about the education system and has helped me get into work.”
