Before taking this course Ameljeda (a graduate) was struggling to find employment in her field. A single parent, she needed to find work that would allow her the flexibility needed to care for her young child.
THE COURSE
Ameljeda admits she was nervous about enrolling as this was outside her comfort zone, but describes the teaching assistant role as ‘just perfect’ so she enrolled on the Cidori-Barnet Southgate College partnership 4-week ‘Teaching Assistant’ (TA) online course, delivered by Barnet Southgate College.
PROGRESSION
Ameljeda found it a ‘great’ experience as she learned a lot about working with children. Just before finishing the course she reached out to a local primary school with which she previously had a connection.
JOURNEY SINCE LEARNING
Ameljeda successfully gained employment at the local primary school and starts as a TA in September because of the course!
QUALIFICATIONS
Like all TA course candidates, Ameljeda has come away with a Level 2 NCFE Cache Award in Support Work in Schools & Colleges qualification and a suite of recognised Level 1 qualifications.
WORK & PERSONAL SKILLS
Ameljeda has also gained a range of personal social & resilience skills along with work skills that will help her in her future career – we wish her every success!
“I would recommend this great course to others because it’s a faster way to get into work, even though it was hard work and the course is intensive, it was worth it – and most importantly it was a great team that helped me – especially the tutor Helen. We received great support when we needed it and I got my TA job because of the course.”
