Before enrolling for an ‘Introduction to Construction Skills’ course in February 2024, Alex had some employment but was being supported by Universal Credit – he wanted to work in construction but needed to obtain his CSCS card.

” I felt a little nervous about the course and was not a big fan of classes with lots of people – but I stayed calm and was enrolled onto the 10 day online programme delivered by Cidori college partners Barnet and Southgate College..”

With support from his college tutor, Alex grew more comfortable in the class – he found that everyone was focused on the course and felt able to engage and ask questions. Alex particularly benefited from gaining a better understanding of how to build his CV – this opened up opportunities for him to find work.

“I had tried to obtain my CSCS card without success, but Cidori – Barnet & Southgate College have really helped me to succeed. I have passed my CSCS test, got my card and been able to go on site and meet people in construction. I would definitely recommend this course – it has had a big impact on my outlook and my family – my next step is to move from agency into full time work.”

Like all our candidates, Alex has come away with a suite of recognised Level 1 qualifications plus his 5 year CSCS green card.

He has also gained a range of personal social & resilience skills along with work skills that will help her in her future career – we wish her every success!

“Alex was a very strong individual, he was enthusiastic and very confident throughout his learning journey and was not shy about taking part in group activities. He showed good knowledge of construction and employability by completing all his workbooks and course work to the required standard. I wish him all the best for the future.
