THE COURSE
Before enrolling on her Teaching Assistant online pre-employment course, in October 2023 Louisa was unemployed…
” I explained to my local JCP work coach that I wanted to go into a teaching assistant position. I had done a course on this elsewhere but it was not sufficient to help me into work – and I didn’t want a long course so when the work coach mentioned this funded 4-5 week online course with Barnet Southgate College and Cidori I was really pleased to enrol.”
PROGRESSION
“I found the course enjoyable and the support excellent – my tutor was always on hand with up to date information and help when needed. I particularly appreciated the special needs (SEND) aspects of the learning which I found very interesting and eye opening. My college tutor Santa was amazing – I’d been to sixth form & college but had never received support like this. Without this I would have struggled.”
JOURNEY SINCE LEARNING
When the course ended Louisa applied for a number of jobs and soon went for her first interview. So what happened?
“The way Santa helped me by doing a mock interview, updating my CV and developing transferable skills – this led me to getting a job at a local SEND school – my first interview since the course ended. I started work on January 15, 2024!”
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Like all our TA candidates, Louisa has come away with a Level 2 NCFE Cache Award in Support Work in Schools & Colleges qualification and a suite of recognised Level 1 qualifications.
Louisa has also gained a range of personal social & resilience skills along with work skills that will help her in her future career – we wish her every success!
” I would definitely recommend this course to others – you genuinely get the support you need to get back into work and my experience proves it!”
