THE COURSE

Before enrolling on her Teaching Assistant pre-employment course, Annika was on Universal Credit after being a stay at home Mum for 17 years…

” I was asked about what I wanted to do as a career, I was told about this teaching assistant course and that after completion I would be signed up with Now Education for the opportunity to work. I was really nervous to be starting an intensive 4 week course – especially online, I really didn’t think I would be able to handle it as well as continuing with my daily life…I was very wrong!”

PROGRESSION

Though there is a lot of work and research and at first you feel overwhelmed, its really not as scary as it looks, you get plenty of time to complete your work and support every day – advice on how to word things…do a little more research, or whatever is needed. Doing this course was the best thing I ever did, the support was amazing, my tutor was the best, and the whole experience has left me wanting to do more courses – I have gained so much confidence since the course and cannot wait to start new courses in the near future, doing this has shown me that I am capable of succeeding at anything if I put my mind to it, and I will forever be grateful for that.

JOURNEY SINCE LEARNING

When the course ended Annika was nervous because she didn’t know what to expect next – assuming it would take weeks (maybe even months) to find work in schools since she was new and many others out there with more experience. So what actually happened?

I completed my course and within just 4 days I was in my first workplace, and I was acting as a cover supervisor in a secondary school! I will never forget the buzz I felt walking through the doors as a teaching assistant for the first time, no nerves or anything, just pure excitement and eagerness to start…I just took to it like a duck to water, and I haven’t stopped since!”

“Annika has been nothing short of amazing since becoming available for work. She has been doing a mixture of teaching assistant (TA) and cover supervising work within secondary schools, I have had good feedback & have just confirmed her for a full time TA placement at one of my schools until the end of November at least. What has impressed me the most is her eagerness for work and her communication has been first class, she is someone I will go to as first port of call…”

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Like all our TA candidates, Annika has come away with a Level 2 NCFE Cache Award in Support Work in Schools & Colleges qualification and a suite of recognised Level 1 qualifications.

Annika has also gained a range of personal social & resilience skills along with work skills that will help her in her future career – we wish her every success!

“Deciding to enrol on this course with Cidori and their training partners is the best decision I ever made, and I can’t wait to get up and go to work.
My tutor still checks up on me from time… they don’t just forget about you once you complete the course which I think shows they care about the people they enrol and want to hear your success stories.
I honestly couldn’t have chosen a better course to start my career in working with children.
